Joseph Myers, Kirkegaard Associates, USA: Recital halls, rehearsal rooms, and research spaces - Speaking of acoustics and the Music Multimedia Room

The lecture will take place in TANNA SCHULICH HALL, followed by a wine and cheese reception in room A832-833 (8th floor of the Elizabeth Wirth New Music Building).

Abstract

McGill's new Music Multimedia Room, currently under construction, is a room with few parallels in the world. It is a large room designed specifically for acoustics research but also intended for large ensemble rehearsals and small performances. This lecture describes the acoustical design approaches that Kirkegaard Associates takes to a recital hall, a rehearsal room, and a space for research, discussing examples of each type of room and how these approaches are combined in the design of McGill's MMR.
