Udo Zölzer: DAFX digital audio effects and applications

A Distinguished Lecture by a guest from the Helmut Schmidt University, University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg, Germany.


The lecture will take place in TANNA SCHULICH HALL, followed by a wine and cheese reception in the lobby of the Elizabeth Wirth Building.

Abstract

The talk will cover the author's scientific experience in signal processing applied to audio and will discuss selected topics from the book "DAFX - Digital Audio Effects" and the corresponding conference series. Finally, a recent sound synthesis application will be presented.

Biography

Udo Zölzer imageUdo Zölzer received a Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Paderborn, Germany, in 1985, a Dr.-Ing. degree from the Technical University Hamburg (TUHH), Germany, in 1989. He completed a habilitation in communications engineering at the TUHH in 1997. Since 1999 he has been a professor and head of the Department of Signal Processing and Communications at the Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg. His research interests are audio and video signal processing and communications. He is the author of "Digital Audio Signal Processing" and the editor of "DAFx – Digital Audio Effects" (Wiley).  Dr. Zölzer is a member of the Audio Engineering Society and the IEEE.
