CIRMMT General Assembly, Student Symposium and Concert 2017

The CIRMMT General Assembly will take place on May 25, 2017. It is part of a full day of activities highlighting the research of our student members. The General Assembly is for CIRMMT members only, although non members are invited to attend the Student Symposium and Concert. Please register online when this becomes available. / L’Assemblée Générale du CIRMMT aura lieu le 25 mai 2017, au cours d’une journée qui mettra en valeur les recherches menées par nos membres étudiants. Le symposium étudiant et le concert sont ouverts à tous, mais l’Assemblée Générale est réservée aux seuls membres du CIRMMT. Merci de vous inscrire en ligne.

CIRMMT Student Symposium (9:00am-4:30pm)

This year's CIRMMT Student Symposium will take place in Tanna Hall and includes oral presentations, demos, posters, and a keynote address from an invited guest. The Student Symposium is open to non-members.  

  • 9:00-9:30: Coffee
  • 9:30-11:00: Presentations, Session 1 (3 Talks)
    • Jason Nobel, Eddy Kazazis: Composing with gestures on a perceptual chordal space
    • Zored Ahmer: Activity based music recommendations
    • Juan Sebastian Delgado, Alex Nieva: Multimodal visual augmentation for cello performance
  • 11:00-11:15: Coffee break
  • 11:15-12:30: CIRMMT Student Award Lightning Round
    • Pierre Grandjean: Spherical double-layer microphone array based on ambisonic approach and Lebedev grid for spatial audio: design, fabrication, and testing
    • David Rafferty: Strutted cell - exploring spatialization as a compositional parameter
    • Johnty Wang: Development of a mapping interface for alternative control of pipe organs
    • André Martins de Oliveira, Katelyn Richardson: The kinetic-kinematic-physiological-musician (KKPM) database project
    • Matthew Boerum, Jack Kelly, Diego Quiroz: How do virtual environments affect localization and timing accuracy when panning audio sources three dimensionally

    • Paris Alirezaee: Did you feel that? Developing novel multimodal alarms for high consequence clinical environments
    • John Sullivan, Alexandra Tibbitts, Olafur Bogason: Harp gesture acquisition for expanded musical practice
  • 3:15-3:30: Coffee Break
  • 3:30-4:30: Keynote Lecture with Tim Crawford (details TBA)

Annual General Assembly (4:40-5:40pm)

The Annual General Assembly is open to CIRMMT Regular, Collaborator, and Student members. It will take place in Tanna Hall.

Student Concert (6:30-7:30pm)

The student concert highlights the work of student performers and composers from our partner universities. It will take place in Tanna Hall.

Le Symposium Etudiant inclut des présentations orales, des démonstrations, des posters et un conférence invité. Le symposium est ouvert au public. Il aura lieu à la Salle Talle.

Assemblée Générale Annuelle (16:40-17:40)

L’Assemblée Générale annuelle est ouverte à tous les membres du CIRMMT.  Il aura lieu à la Salle Tanna Schulich.

Concert des Etudiants (18:00-19:00)
