Connecting people, sound and technology at the NuSom – Research Center on Sonology

ABSTRACT

In this talk I'll present some of the collective artwork projects developed at the NuSom - Research Center on Sonology at the University of São Paulo. The Center gives support to both artistic and academic works that critically address the connections between music, sound arts and technology. For the last 10 years we have been exploring the relationship between the concepts of experiment and of experimentalism, not as two distinct aspects, but as complementary strategies involved in contemporary artistic and academic production. Our idea is to use experimental artistic projects as converging points though which artists and researchers coming from different fields can share their knowledge and skills.
