Broadcasting the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games for Canada’s Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium was an exercise in large numbers, and that was no more evident than in its Music.

“The Olympic Suite” composed by Stephan Moccio became a hallmark of that remarkable event - and its story is deeply intertwined with McGill. Produced to provide the soundtrack for the Vancouver and London Games, it contains more than 2 hours of music delivered as over 250 cues.

Tackling the audio for this massive undertaking would be daunting under any circumstances - but to do it in support of the first ever Olympic Winter Games to be produced entirely in 5.1 Surround was remarkable.

Recorded in the MMR over 3 days in the Fall of 2009, the orchestral component of the Suite is the cornerstone of the project. It's success depended on cutting edge technology and some extraordinary workflow.

This presentation is an opportunity to "return home" with the story, and take a retrospective look at some amazing sonic adventures.
