Objectives
- Discussion and selection of Distinguished Lecture guests for 2018-19
- We will choose a ranked list of three names: nominations can be sent in advance of the meeting to RA4 co-leader Robert Hasegawa (robert.hasegawa [AT] mcgill.ca). If you cannot be present at the February meeting, please send your opinions/comments by email. For reference, the list of possible guests nominated for the 2017-18 DL included (in ranked order):
- Philippe Hurel (declined invitation), Trevor Wishart (lecturing on February 1), Chris Watson, Georg Friedrich Haas, Chaya Czernowin, Natasha Barrett (visited in Fall 2017 for a RA4 workshop), Mark Goldstein, Pierre Jodlowski, Olga Neuwirth, Eduardo Miranda, Mark Andre, Agostino di Schipio, Steven Kazuo Takasugi
- Workshop planning for Spring 2018
- Our research axis still has some funding (approximately $800) for a spring 2018 workshop. Options will be discussed at the meeting: as above, feel free to make proposals by email (robert.hasegawa [AT] mcgill.ca). This year's RA4 visitors have been Natasha Barrett, Amnon Wolman, and Pierre-Andre Valade (with the Meitar Ensemble).
- Workshop ideas for 2018-19
- We will have a total budget of approximately $2,300 for next year's RA4 workshops and activities. If you are interested in hosting a visitor or arranging a workshop, please let me know in advance of the meeting (robert.hasegawa [AT] mcgill.ca). We have already budgeted $500 for support of the International Conference on Technologies for Music Notation and Representation (TENOR) in May 2018 (which falls into next fiscal year's budget), and I would also like to discuss the possibility of a RA4 contribution to the International Conference on Mixed-Music Pedagogy (November 2018).
