An Internet Multi-sensory Experience

November 04, 2002

On November 28th the Kevin Dean Quartet performed in Montreal at the Schulich School of Music while attendees in Toronto watched the performance live on a widescreen video display (16:9 format) with multichannel (6-channel) sound.

The occasion was CANARIE's 7th Annual Advanced Networks Workshop. The McGill project team was led by Wieslaw Woszczyk, Schulich School of Music, John Roston, Instructional Communications Centre and Jeremy Cooperstock, Faculty of Engineering. The demonstration marks a high point in the transmission of uncompressed, high-resolution, multi-sensory content, and pushes the envelope of what will be possible on the next generation Internet.
