Does Mozart enhance our humanity? The neuroscience of music

Why do we make music? How do we make music? Why do we like the music we like? Music, like language, is something universal to our species. Yet we know little about how it evolved and how our brains are specialized to create and respond to music.

The recently published Annals Vol. 1060, The Neurosciences and Music II: From Perception to Performance, is the proceedings of an international conference organized by the Mariani Foundation and held in Leipzig in May 2005.  It features the work of two CIRMMT members and Co-Directors of BRAMS, Isabelle Peretz and Robert Zatorre.
