Perceptual evaluation of sensor devices for musical performance

  Research Project Information
Runtime: Sep 01, 2005 until Sep 01, 2006
Student staff: Mark Marshall (McGill, Music Technology)
Funding: Natural Sciences and Engineering Council of Canada (NSERC)

Experiments investigated the suitability of commonly used sensors devices for specific musical tasks, in terms of performance, accuracy and users' satisfaction. The effects of additional visual feedback on the perceived suitability of these sensors was also examined. The statistical analysis revealed interaction effects between sensor type and musical task, suggesting that the choice of sensor must be adapted to the task at hand.
