Perceptual evaluation of vibrato models

Vibrato models include frequency modulation, predominant in voice and bowed strings and amplitude modulation, predominant in winds. However, wind and brass instruments exhibit a more complex vibrato behavior with additional spectral envelope modulations (SEM).  We proposed a vibrato model combining a two-level sinusoidal model with a panned-wavetable synthesis technique to explicitly represent SEM and investigated the perceptual impact of each modulation (AM, FM, SEM) on sound quality.
