Analysis of behavioral measures and neural correlates of vocal pitch regulation

  Research Project Information
Runtime: Dec 31, 2006 until Jun 29, 2010
Student staff: Sean Wood (U. de Montréal); Jean Mary Zarate (McGill)
Funding: Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT); Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)

To find brain regions that govern vocal pitch regulation during singing, we must link brain activity with vocal performance. However, measuring vocal performance is hard because current vocal-analysis tools are not designed for singing. We will develop new software to analyze singing, and the vocal data will be used to determine a link with brain activity.
