Research Funding Opportunities

With financial support from FRQSC and McGill University's Vice-Principal Research, CIRMMT is able to promote innovative and interdisciplinary research by offering two types of research funding opportunities to its graduate students: Student awards and travel funding.

Please check each award for the eligibility requirements, as well as for any changes.

**NEW! Agile Seed Funding (up to a maximum of $1500) has been created with the aim of fostering the exploration of new and innovative topics amongst members across the Centre’s four research axes, and to allow them quick and agile access to some funds.  Priority will be given to interdisciplinary, inter-institutional collaborative research projects. The Principal Investigator must be a Regular member.

Student Awards (up to $5000 for first-time applicants and $3000 for renewing applicants) are available on a yearly basis to new and returning graduate student members pursuing interdisciplinary research projects within the Centre’s mandate.

Travel Awards are awarded (up to $750 for continental travel and $1000 for intercontinental travel) on a three period basis to Graduate and Postdoctoral members presenting their own work at a conference, and who do not have adequate funding sources.

CIRMMT's Inter-Centre Research Exchange Program aims to promote a multidisciplinary research network in which graduate researchers can benefit from a broad range of expertise and complementary research directions through a residency at partner institutions.  This funding is for research purposes only.

**NEW! Student Outreach Funding aims to encourage community engagement, expand CIRMMT exposure, and diversify student involvement. With this award, student members are incentivized to develop interactive methods of presenting their CIRMMT research through a pedagogical task.
