Jaroslaw Kapuscinski: Composing and performing audio-visually

ABSTRACT

The arrival of digital technologies has empowered the convergence of aural and visual media onto a single canvas and encouraged single-authored works. As one of a growing number of composers who are part of this development I will present recent works and discuss issues related to their composition and performance.

ABOUT JAROSLAW KAPUSCINSKI

Jaroslaw Kapuscinski PhotoJarosław Kapuściński is an intermedia composer and pianist whose work has been presented among others at New York MOMA; ZKMin Karlsruhe; Centre Pompidou in Paris; and Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid. He has received awards at the UNESCO Film sur l'Art festival in Paris, VideoArt Festival Locarno, and FNCNM in Montréal. He was first trained as a pianist and composer at the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw and expanded into multimedia during studies at the University of California, San Diego. Currently, he is Assistant Professor of composition and intermedia at Stanford University.
