Jan Tro: Some experience in music performance analyses

ABSTRACT: 

Statistical analyses of solo and ensemble performances (piano, flute, vocal, choir, jazz big band) will be presented and discussed, including questions about data acquisition methodology, equipment reliability and reproducibility, and performer precision (timing and dynamics) in solo and ensemble situations.

ABOUT JAN TRO:

Tro is an associated professor at the Acoustics group, Dept. of Electronics and Telecommunications at NTNU, Trondheim. He is founder of the Interdisciplinary Bachelor and Master Program in Music Technology at NTNU together with the Music Conservatory. His formal background in electronics, music and acoustics has been an important platform for his interdisciplinary research and for his activities as a musician and a composer. Appointed as the Norwegian representative he has been active in several music related international research programs and congresses (DAFx, ConGAS, MOSART, FASE, ICA, ICMPC, ISPS). At present he is responsible for education programs in music acoustics, psycho acoustics and music perception at his NTNU dept.
