Description & basic schedule

As online teaching will be a big part of our situation moving forward, what are the best methods for remote delivery of teaching in music research and performance, and beyond? How can we better prepare and adapt to this reality?

Presenters include the following, and these short talks will be followed by a roundtable discussion with everyone present:

  • Jennie Ferris (Teaching and Learning Services, McGill) will discuss ideas for adapting your courses to the remote teaching and learning context, and will share related resources and strategies. For instance, resources for instructors include webinarstools, guides on adapting a course,  adapting assessment strategies, and also a guide for remote practice instruction.
  • Richard Yanaky (School of Information Studies, McGill) will present various tips on subjects such as pre-recorded lectures, preparing for in-person engagements, Zoom and more.
  • Denys Bouliane (Professor for Composition, Conductor, Festival Organizer and co-Developer or OrchSim and OrchPlay) who will discuss OrchPlay as tool for class and remote delivery: ACCESS-PREPARE all Stereo/multichannel audio with SYNCHRONIZED Scores + RECORD ‘VIRTUAL ENSEMBLES’ in multi-step. Click on the links to view information on some suggestions on basic Zoom set-up for quality audio and What can the new OrchPlay do for us?
  • Matthew Lane (Invited Professor at Université de Montréal) has taught private students online throughout the spring, as well as some courses post-pandemic, developing strategies and setting up technologies to deal with the challenges related to online teaching.
  • Round-Table: all those present will be invited to discuss this topic!
