Multimodal Immersive Systems Axis Meeting

Jeremy Cooperstock and Jonas Braasch (co-leaders of this research axis) invite CIRMMT members and students to a general axis meeting on Friday, December 7th from 11:30am to 12:30pm.

This meeting will be the occasion to discuss the activities of the axis such as upcoming workshops, collaborative projects and grant applications.

Members are asked to reply to reception AT cirmmt DOT mcgill.ca to confirm their attendance.

Suggestions for agenda items are welcome.

Multimodal Immersive Systems Research Theme

This theme grew out of pioneering work on surround-sound systems and has evolved to include real-time transmission over internet of high-definition multimodal content for interactive, musical shared reality situations. Work on 3D spatial auditory displays involves the development of binaural models, computer-based sound projection environments, prototype loudspeakers with 3D radiation surfaces and controllable acoustic directivity, and sound-field synthesis algorithms. The virtual immersive presence environment includes multicamera HD video processing to create a visual surround field, multichannel reconstitution of multiple sound sources and acoustic ambiance, and reconstitution of vibratory information with a motion platform.
