Here is a short description of what will be covered:

5.1 Surround Speaker Calibration Workshop

Critical recording, mixing and playback using surround audio systems require proper loudspeaker selection, location and level calibration. This workshop will examine the ITU specification for 5.1 surround sound and the alignment issues presented by various surround formats including DVD-A, SACD and Dolby Surround. Different techniques will be examined using broadband and bandwidth limited pink noise, handheld SPL meters and spectrum analyzers. There will also be a discussion of bass management and its implications for alignment and production. Finally, issues involved in extending the calibration technique to multi-channel configurations with more loudspeakers will be discussed.

Maximum number of participants: 10
