The Groupe de Recherche en Immersion Spatiale (GRIS) announces the launch of their new software for multichannel spatial sound.

The Groupe de Recherche en Immersion Spatiale (GRIS) from the Faculty of Music of University of Montreal is proud to offer the first public version of ServerGRIS, a software for multichannel spatial sound. Robert Normandeau, a CIRMMT Regular Member and professor at the University of Montreal, acted as the director for this project.

ServerGRIS is an external multichannel sound spatializer for different configurations of speakers in 2D (horizontal plane, X and Y axis) or 3D (X, Y and Z). It is implemented as a JackRouter HAL plugin which is installed with the Server. ServerGRIS supports up to 128 inputs and outputs. The position information are sent from the SpatGRIS plugin (or any other client) to the ServerGRIS via OSC messages. The audio spatialization itself is made by the ServerGRIS and sent to the audio interface.
