This talk will provide an overview of some of my research tracks that featured a close relationship between sound (musical or not) and interaction (humans manipulating computing devices), marked by retroactions between both research domains. Beyond the definition of retroaction that characterizes the human tactile-proprio-kinesthetic loops put in application in force-feedback interaction, here retroaction also illustrates how methods from the research on interaction could feed back for instance to the creativity of sound practitioners, and vice-versa. The following three research tracks will be overviewed:

  1. 1) Sound Design↔Browsing
  2. 2) Force-Feedback Interaction ↔ Musical Instrumentality
  3. 3) Audio↔Vibrotactile Modal Analysis/Synthesis

Christian Frisson is a postdoctoral researcher, currently at Inria with the Mjolnir team, soon at the University of Calgary with the Interactions Lab, and visiting Marcelo Wanderley in between at IDMIL. He obtained his PhD at the University of Mons, numediart Institute, in 2015; and his MSc. in "Art, Science, Technology from Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble with the Association for the Creation and Research on Expression Tools (ACROE), in 2006.
