ABSTRACT

In this presentation I would like to review three project that show successful interdisciplinary collaborations in the field of musical acoustics: an attempt to modify the design of a notch flute looking to broaden the comfort zone of the musician by modifying the instrument within its cultural limits; a comparative study of bagpipes from Mallorca and Galicia in which we investigate how musical the bag control is, and finally a user-based methodology is proposed for the design for an innovative musical instrument, the Arcontinuo.
