Description

Interactive Audio Montreal (IAM) and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT) have joined forces to organize a series of cutting-edge events on the new frontiers of interactive audio: techniques, trends, challenges. Stay tuned!

6:00–6:10: IAM meeting#3: Welcome statement and CIRMMT presentation

Topic: The New Frontiers of Interactive Audio in Virtual, Augmented, Mixed realities

6:10-6:30: Matthew Boerum (Co-Founder/CEO - Audible Reality) [*]: "Immersive Streaming Audio".   

                 Talk description: 
                 3D audio's popularity has grown rapidly in recent months with major tech companies
                 launching products and services with immersive audio features.  This talk will explore current developments
                 in 3D audio products for streaming media and discuss their limitations, mainly around 3D audio capture. 
                 A new solution is proposed for high quality and efficient live immersive audio processing.

6:30-7:00: Q&A & Demo with Matthew Boerum

7:05-7:30: Jean-Pascal Beaudoin (Co-Founder/Head of Sound) & Viktor Phoenix (Partner/Head of Audio, L.A.), 
                 Headspace Studio [**] "The Role Sound Plays in the New Realities: Immersion, Presence, Storytelling".

                 Talk description: 
                 Spatial and interactive audio offer immersive entertainment productions a shortcut to our hearts and play
                 a significant role in storytelling and gameplay. Jean-Pascal Beaudoin and Viktor Phoenix from Headspace
                 Studio, a creative sound services company focused on sound for immersive entertainment, discuss tips
                 and techniques for using sound in the new realities.
