Biography

A multi-award-winning engineer, mixer, producer and educator Wolpert has worked with some of the biggest names in today's entertainment industry. A graduate of Concordia University in Montreal (BFA Studio Music), Wolpert went on to earn his Master of Music Degree in Sound Recording (Tonmeister) from McGill University in 1982. Upon graduation, he joined Inception Sound, where he helped build one 8-track into two 48-track studios. He then became the chief engineer at McClear Pathé Recording Studios, a five-studio multi-format recording and mixing facility. Since 2012 he has been the owner of the Dolby ATMOS Music certified multi-room facility Desert Fish Studios located in downtown Toronto and has won 3 JUNO Awards for Recording Engineer of the Year. He is the Director of the Master in Music Technology and Digital Media graduate program at the University of Toronto as well as Professor of Immersive Audio at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, Italy. Wolpert has toured the world several times producing, recording and mixing for Canadian and International artists such as Loreena McKennitt, Herbie Hancock, Kola Loka and many others as well as over 200 film scores and countless television episodes. Known for his mastery of recording and intricate mixing, Wolpert is also recognized for his vast musical, organizational, technical and computer knowledge.
