CIRMMT's 20th Anniversary

CIRMMT's 20th Anniversary

November 16, 2020

CIRMMT celebrates 20 years of existence.

We are thrilled to inform our fellow CIRMMTies that, in 2021, CIRMMT will be completing 20 years of existence! And to celebrate this great milestone, we are organizing some very special events.

As some of you might have noticed, the 2020-2021 season of the Distinguished Lecture Series has taken on a new approach to the presentation of scientific research. We have been revisiting and rebroadcasting memorable presentations given at CIRMMT over the past 20 years, and these have been followed by live discussions with the original presenter whenever possible. Now to kick-off CIRMMT's 20th anniversary festivities, instead of the usual six, this year's season will bring eight insightful presentations chosen by our membership.

Also coming up this year are a number of Interact@CIRMMT presentations tailored to the needs of our members. This new series of online meetings was born out of the needs of our community during a difficult time and it reveals the ingenuity of our members and directors to keep on innovating. Within the Interact@CIRMMT Series, each presentation is organized by our members and for our members featuring various useful topics. These presentations are streamed online, and aim to promote interaction among our community while providing our fellow researchers with tools and resources so they can continue their work.

To top it off, some big surprises are being prepared in the live@CIRMMT Concert Series during winter 2021, and particularly in the month of May. Along with a special mini-festival, we are hoping to organize several events and celebrate the long-awaited opening of the MMR to CIRMMT members. Stay tuned for more details.

We would like to thank all past and present students, collaborators, members, and staff who have made CIRMMT the world-renowned research centre that it is today. A word of gratitude is also due to our partner institutions: McGill University, Université de Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke, and École de Technologie Supérieure.  Congratulations to us all!
