CIRMMT at McGill's bicentennial celebrations!

July 16, 2019

CIRMMT, SSM and FARMM create McGill's Bicentennial Performance Stage & Pavilion for the Macdonald Campus.

CIRMMT and the McGill Schools of Architecture (Facility for Architectural Media and Mediation (FARMM)) and Music have teamed up to design and build a music stage and pavilion for the lower campus. The project was launched officially on June 21st and is part of McGill's Bicentennial celebrations which will take place between September 2020 and December 2021.

This unique collaboration, led by Michael Jemtrud (FARMM) and Isabelle Cossette (CIRMMT), involved architects, musicians, music technologists, and engineers, and it is one of three major student-and-faculty driven projects in commemoration of McGill's 200th anniversary (2020).

The pavilion, built primarily in wood, can be assembled and disassembled as needed, and it has multimedia infrastructure embedded in its design to support a wide range of performances and artistic experiences. Over the summer (2019), the pavilion will be displayed at the Jardins de Métis (Grand-Métis), and then relocated to McGill's Downtown Campus after a stop at the Mcdonald Campus.
