Description

This workshop is a short introduction/orientation of the SuperCollider (real-time sound synthesis and algorithm composition), and a demonstration of livecoding exercises. A demonstration of Algorithms (finite state machines) to capture some basic music features will be given. This will be an interesting talk for both programmers and composers.

It is recommended that participants bring a laptop with Supercollider installed, so they can follow on their own system. Software is a free download: http://supercollider.sourceforge.net/downloads/

ABOUT IVAN PAZ

Ivan studied physics and math at the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM), as well as a Masters degree in Physics at the same University. Currently is a professor of Mathematical methods applied to musical composition at UNAM, and collaborates with the National Centre of the Arts of México city. His current work is developed under the supercollider platform and include artificial intelligent methods for study music personality. Recent collaborations include "Icosahedron" piece for Piano and Laptop with Peter Drungle (NY) recorded in México City 2012.  Recently he won a grant of the National Centre for Science and Technology of México to continue, next year, his studies about music personality in the Polytechnic university of Catalonia, Spain.
