Major duties:
- Oversee the final design and the renovation of a state-of-the-art performance space (MMR - 425 sq. meters x 16.5 meters height). Liaise with McGill Facilities personnel to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Prepare and submit, in collaboration with the PI, a revised budget for the project according to CFI policies and infrastructure needs.
- Oversee the acquisition and installation of equipment:
- Verify research equipment options 7
- Manage purchases (working closely with administration units at McGill)
- Contact vendors; ensure best quality and cost options in compliance with McGill policies
- Organize training for purchased equipment
- Be responsible for the development and implementation of the MMR infrastructure.
- Closely monitor the CFI project to avoid implementation delays during the first 3 years of the grant. Oversee the fit-out and equipment parts of the grant.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation of infrastructure renovation and equipment purchased.
- Liaise between the principal investigator of the grant, the CIRMMT Director, Assoc. Director - STR. Technical/Systems Manager, and the Schulich School of Music building director.
Education/Experience:
Undergraduate Degree (engineering/technical degree preferred)
Three (3) years of professional experience
Other qualifying experience:
Strong technical background that includes professional music and performance facility technical design. Knowledge of architectural acoustics and experience with the design and construction of high-end performance spaces. Experience with professional mixed-media music performance production. Experience managing large projects. English, spoken and written. French knowledge is an asset.
