CIRMMT member Philippe Leroux named Royal Society of Canada Fellow

September 14, 2015

Philippe Leroux, Associate Professor, Department of Music Research, Schulich School of Music, was named Royal Society of Canada Fellow.

One of the most performed composers of his generation, Philippe Leroux has changed our perception of music. Rather than a collection of discrete elements, his music is about gesture, motion, and transformation, realized through the combination of human voices, acoustic instruments, and the infinite possibility of computer music. While he uses technology in innovative ways, the guiding idea is always human in origin – the breath, the brushstroke, memory, and motion.
