How to Apply for Membership

REGULAR MEMBERS

Please submit the following to the Research Centre Administrator: 

  1. A letter of intent: What to include in your letter [PDF]
  2. Your full curriculum vitae
  3. Two letters of support from CIRMMT Regular members addressed to the Centre’s Executive Committee for review.

Selected candidates will be strongly encouraged to present their work to the Centre’s research community in the form of a Seminar. 

COLLABORATOR MEMBERS

Please submit the following to the Research Centre Administrator: 

  1. A letter of intent: What to include in your letter [PDF]
  2. Your full curriculum vitae
  3. Two letters of support from CIRMMT Regular members addressed to the Centre’s Executive Committee for review. 
    1. N.B. Researchers who were previously CIRMMT student members and are seeking Collaborator membership within two years of having finished their studies must submit item 1 and 2 mentioned above and only one letter of sponsorship from a CIRMMT Regular Member to the Executive Committee for review.

The term for Regular and Collaborator Centre membership is up to three years, renewable.

Renewals for Regular and Collaborator members will be processed during the FRQ applications and mid-term reviews and will be requested via the FRQ platform and/or by email.

The ratification of nominations for new Regular and Collaborator Members of the Centre, as well as renewals of membership, is the prerogative of CIRMMT's Board of Directors.

POST-DOCTORAL/GRADUATE/UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
  1. Please ask your CIRMMT supervisor or sponsor to submit your name, email address and academic details (department, academic program, year of study) via the online Student Management system.
  2. Once step 1 is complete, students will receive an email requesting them to submit a short written explanation as to why they want to be part of CIRMMT and how their research connects to the Centre. This will be reviewed.

Please note that CIRMMT staff update the student membership once a week.

N.B. Students seeking membership must be enrolled at a university which our Regular members are involved with and must be working on a research project that is within the mandate of the Centre. Only Regular members can sponsor students.

The term for Post-doctoral, Graduate and Undergraduate student membership is up to three years, renewable, or for the duration of their studies if shorter than three years. Renewals for Student members will be processed during the FRQ applications and mid-term reviews and will be requested via the FRQ platform and/or by email.

VISITING STUDENTS
  1. You will need to follow the procedure regarding Research Traineeships at McGill: https://www.mcgill.ca/gradapplicants/apply/prepare/visiting
  2. Once step 1 is complete, please ask your CIRMMT supervisor or sponsor to submit your name, email address and academic details (department, academic program, year of study) via the online Student Management system. Please note that only Regular members can sponsor students.
  3. Once step 2 is complete, students will receive an email requesting them to submit a short written explanation as to why they want to be part of CIRMMT and how their research connects to the Centre. This will be reviewed.
