Perry Cook: Speaking Machines

Perry Cook is a professor at Princeton University, USA.

ABSTRACT:
On Thursday, November 11th, 3-5pm, he will provide a more "technical" presentation of his work in the MTCL. This talk will review the history of speech synthesis, from ancient "speaking statues" to the most modern frequency-domain concatenative template systems. Particular emphasis will be put on the synthesis of singing. Lots of soundfile examples will be played to demonstrate the various methods.

On Friday, November 12th, 3:45-4:45pm, he will present at the doctoral colloquium in C209. This talk will be directed to a more "musical" audience.
