Workshop on Multimodal Influences on Perceived Self Motion

This workshop, organized by CIRMMT research axis 4 (Multimodal Immersive Systems), will take place at McGill University on February 4, 2008.

Coffee and pastries will be served from 9-11am in the CIRMMT meeting room (A807, NMB), with demos in Multimodal Shared Reality Lab (A820). Presentations will begin at 11am in A832.

This workshop will explore the results of multimodal research on the perception of self-motion. Emphasis is placed upon work concerning the influence of auditory information on reports of self-motion (e.g., cross-modality effects when auditory information is coordinated with vestibular information). These results have bearing on the artistic creation of multimedia experiences in which congruence of sensory information in multi-modal display systems is potentially important, such as experiences in which a listener moves through virtual world.
