Jacob Desjardins is a composer and multi-instrumentalist working in electroacoustic and experimental music. He holds a master’s degree in urban sociology (INRS, 2023) and is currently pursuing a PhD in composition and sound design. Desjardins has developed a musical practice centered on cybernetic generative systems using modular synthesizers, as well as a compositional approach based on field recordings from the places he inhabits.
His most recent works include the composition and performance of original scores for three documentaries: L’odeur du diesel (2025, forthcoming), Eviction (2023), and 2012 / Through the Heart (2022). In 2024, he released a full-length album, Timbres oblitérés, under the pseudonym Errance on the Montreal-based label Humidex Records. That same year, an album from his 2015–2016 free jazz project Brick Quartet, Passing the Buck, on which he played drums, was co-released by Small Scale Music (Montreal) and iiii Records (New Zealand). With Simon Chioini, they are developing a duo of snares, percussions and concatenative and corpus-based synthesis.
