Pierpaolo Ovarini is a composer and a sound artist with a strong interest in software development applied to sound spatialization and sound design. He considers sound a plastic material capable of shaping virtual worlds solely through sound and space. This concept is applied to an AAR ecosystem for space design and sound rendering - comprising of wearable sound devices - that he is developing as part of his PhD research in Italy, in collaboration with Tempo Reale (Florence) and the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples. The research aims to build technology within a theoretical and cultural framework, ensuring a design that is both stable and speculative, and remains functional, intuitive, and open enough to be adopted by a diverse range of creative practitioners across the arts and design.
