World Opera Project at CIRMMT
The creator of the World Opera project, Niels Lund, and Conductor Niels Muus were working at CIRMMT with Jeremy Cooperstock and his research team in February. Composition prize for CIRMMT student member Anthony Tan
CIRMMT is very happy to announce that student member Anthony Tan, a Master's student in Composition at the Schulich School of Music, is one of the prize winners in the Contemptronics 08 Competition of the Hamburger Klangwerktage 2008 Festival in Hamburg.
T-Stick performance by D. Andrew Stewart at the SAT
D. Andrew Stewart performed his composition "Everybody to the power of one" on a soprano S-Stick at the SAT in September. The T-Stick is a digital instrument designed by Joe Malloch and D. Eve-Marie Quintin and Jason Hockman win prizes at CIRMMT General Assembly
At the 2008 CIRMMT General Assembly, Eve-Marie Quintin won the prize for best oral presentation and Jason Hockman won the prize for best poster presentation. Both CIRMMT students will receive $100.
CIRMMT student Michel Vallières selected for keynote at CIM08
Michel Vallières has been invited to deliver a keynote talk after his paper 'Intrinsic formal functionality: Perception of Mozart's materials' was selected by the organising committee of CIM08. The conference will take place in Greece in July 2008.
CIRMMT student Frédéric Chiasson receives SMUC composition award
In May 2008, CIRMMT student Frédéric Chiasson (Université de Montréal, Faculté de musique) won the SMUC (Société de musique des universités canadiennes) composition award for his piece "Cristal." "Cristal" will be played by the Turning Point Ensemble in Vancouver during the summer.
CIRMMT student Bruno Gingras receives ICMPC10 Young Researcher Award
In April 2008, Bruno Gingras received one of two ICMPC Young Researcher Awards. 35 papers were submitted for consideration for this award.
