Congratulations to regular member Martha de Francisco for this illustrious award.

As the Royal Conservatoire The Hague marks its 200th anniversary, the institution is celebrating not only its history but also its enduring ties to the international musical community. Among the highlights of this milestone year is the announcement that educator and sound professional Martha de Francisco will be invited to join the Art of Sound community as Maestra Honoris Causa.

The distinction recognizes de Francisco’s outstanding career as an esteemed educator and a professional of exceptional accomplishment, her long-standing connection to The Netherlands, and her previous engagements with the Conservatoire. She is praised as an exemplary representative of the department’s core values, including meticulous listening, the pursuit of the highest recording standards, excellence in teaching, and an inspiring collaboration with artists and colleagues. Her recognition also supports the Conservatoire’s ongoing efforts to strengthen gender balance within its programs.

The official conferral of the title is planned to take place in The Hague in October 2026, during a special event with the performance of Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem at the Grote Kerk. In addition to being conferred her title, de Francisco will be invited to coach students involved in the project, underscoring her lasting impact as both music recording specialist and mentor.
