Filipe Gaio is a Master's student in Cybersecurity at the University of Porto (FCUP), currently undertaking a research stay at McGill University. As a musician, composer, and researcher, his work bridges human-computer interaction (HCI) and digital arts, with a particular focus on augmented instruments. His current research explores mapping human movement using neural networks to modulate audio in real-time, enabling expressive and dynamic control over augmented instruments. Beyond his academic research in music technology, Filipe is an active jazz pianist with published musical works, as well as a cybersecurity professional and Capture The Flag (CTF) player. Drawing from his background in web exploitation, hardware hacking, and system security, he brings a unique, multidisciplinary technical perspective to the design and development of innovative interactive systems.
