Workshop on Musicians' Hearing Health

Research Axis 3 hosts a workshop to discuss the prevalence of hearing health related issues musicians are facing, the current and future development of active hearing protectors, as well as hearing conservation programs.

You are invited to participate to a workshop on musicians’ hearing health which will be held on May 11 from 10:30am to 3pm, in C-201, Strathcona Music Building (to be confirmed).

Description of the workshop:
Musical practice, from rehearsal to public performance, regularly exposes musicians and sound artists to intensity levels that can put them at risk of developing hearing damage. Individual protection for musicians is therefore recommended in many contexts, including the orchestra. However, the limited comfort of hearing protectors results in a non-systematic use of protection during individual practice, rehearsal and performance. In this workshop we will discuss the prevalence of hearing health related issues musicians are facing, the current and future development of active hearing protectors, as well as hearing conservation programs.

Registration is mandatory for presenters and attendees:  Musicians’ Hearing Health

Deadline to propose a presentation : May 5 at 12 pm.
