Description
Following Nadine Schütz’s (ETH Zürich and IRCAM) distinguished lecture on December 1st 2025, CIRMMT is pleased to announce a two-day workshop, with guest researcher Nicolas Misdariis (IRCAM). This workshop aims to bring together artists and researchers interested in soundscape design and situated sound art. We will discuss the various ways sound art can affect the experience of urban spaces as well as design tools and methods as well as artistic practices around the creation of site-specific sound installations and performances.

Preliminary schedule
Wednesday, December 3, 9h30-16h: Seminar on Sonic Interventions in Public Space. Lunch will be offered at room A832 (8th floor). The schedule might be shorter depending on the number of presentations. We invite artists and researchers to submit proposals for 20-minute presentations on topics related to site-specific sound art and/or soundscape design, including but not limited to:
- Site-specific sound installations
- Artistic performances and/or sound interventions in public space
- Sonic experiences in urban settings
Thursday, December 4, 9h30-12h30: Co-creation workshop with invited artists. This co-creation workshop will involve an Ambisonics soundscape simulation tool. Invited sound artists will be invited to work on ways to (re)design the existing soundscape of a Montreal Public Space (Peace Park) by adding sounds to a pre-existing sound environment. Spaces are limited, please note that the results of this workshop will be presented to everyone in the afternoon.
Thursday, December 4, 14h00-16h: Presentation and playback of the outcomes of the co-creation workshop in the afternoon, followed by panel discussions in presence of the invited artists.
